As a crocheter and knitter, I've been gifted (and given) many-a-gifts for years, so I have a good idea of what is wanted, and what is not... So, I wanted to help those people out who don't have a clue of what to give to the crafter they love (or just like), with a list of fool-proof gifts they'll actually use!
Don't forget that it's okay to ASK what they want as well! Every gift doesn't have to be a surprise, especially if you don't know their likes or wants.

Original Neck Reading Light - https://amzn.to/4qt7efo - $20 ON AMAZON
When I first saw this online, I was like, "nah, I'll never use it." But then my friend got me one for Christmas, and let me tell you, it comes in handy! I was in the car crocheting, while my husband was driving, and it was the early morning. I had a Crochet Rasta Dreadlock Hat order to finish that day, and I didn't dare crochet it in the dark, and see the consequences a few hours later 🤣 I popped this bad boy out, turned on one light (on my right side so it wouldn't distract my husband while driving) and it was LIT.
You can use both sides independently or together, there are three brightness modes and temperature settings (yellow(3000K), warm white(4000K) and cool white(6000K)). The battery lasts up to 80 hours on one charge, it's rechargeable, and comes with the cord to plug it in.
I love how it sits on my neck, it's comfy and you'll forget it's there. Also, you can an adjust where the light is shining, because of its flexible goose-neck design!
Also, if you use a lot of black or dark colored yarn, this is the perfect tool to illuminate those dark stitches, haha! Ask me how I know 🤣

Yarn Winder - Option 1 - Craft Destiny, Option 2 - Knit Picks, Option 3 - INMAKER - $20

Yarn Ball Winder - Great Gift For Crocheters or Knitters
Having a yarn winder is a next-level tool for yarn artists. I remember when I was young and hipster: I didn't want to do what everyone else was doing, and winding my yarn by hand into a ball was the way to go. Man, was I missing out. When I got myself a yarn winder, my craft world changed forever!
Being able to quickly and efficiently frog (take apart) my crochet projects and wind them up, changed everything. I personally chose the hand-cranking (not electric) ones, because sometimes yarn can get stuck underneath the windy part, and I like to be in control so when that happens, I can stop immediately. Also, it's sooo relaxing to do it by hand, and control the tension. It's great!
SWIG Granny Square Project Bag - $50 + Granny Square Tumbler - $45 on Amazon - or BUY on the official Swig Website using THIS LINK to get 15% OFF
I got these as a gift from one of my crochet students, and I love it so much! Granny squares are one of my favorite things, and they are a staple in the crochet community! I love having things that represent me, and if you, or if you know a crocheter who is the same way, sporting granny square merch is a MUST. The cup fits 30oz of water, and has a straw for easy hydration. It keeps drinks cold for 24+ hours and hot for 3+ hours.
The bag is waterproof, wipeable, and puncture-resistant. It has a sturdy, hard bottom for support and stability, and is 16" W x 10.5" D x 14.5" H, which holds a LOT. Not to mention it has three pockets on the inside, and one has a zipper for all your crochet hooks and tools.
So for your crafty friend who is on the go, this is a great crochet-stylish gift they'll love and actually use!

Knit or Crochet Bag for Multiple Yarn Projects - $41 on Amazon

As crocheters and knitters, we usually have multiple projects happening at once, and sometimes, a project can use multiple strands of yarn at a time. Just ask any mosaic, tapestry, or C2C crocheter. Keeping the yarn untangled can be a hassle, but this bag makes it easier! My sister got me a bag VERY similar to this one (mine, unfortunately, isn't being sold anymore). You can use it for one project, or if you're like me, many WIPS (work in progress).
It has all the space, and soooo many pockets, for your crochet hooks, knitting needles, scissors, stitch markers, books, patterns, you name it, it'll fit!
When I go on long trips (like the one I am on now), this is my go to bag. I like having many different pieces at once to work on, from my Mini Wanderlust Bandana, to David's Alpine Stitch Hexagon Cardigan.
Yarn Bowl - $20 to $40, here is the one I have on Amazon

As I mentioned above, making yarn balls is my specialty, and I have so many little ones around my craft space. When you work from them, they tend to roll around, a lot, haha! But with a yarn bowl, it keeps them in place, and not rolling your floor, table, or in your fridge - eating up all the food 🤣
I'm currently using mine to store all my mini yarn ball scraps, but you can also use it for yarn cakes as well (center or outer pull). There are ceramic ones, like above, and a lot of beautiful wood ones as well! Don't skimp out and get a cheap light-weight one, though (READ THE REVIEWS)! These bowls need to be heavy so that they don't roll around with the yarn ball, and stay in place while you're pulling the strand! Which is why my ceramic one is perfect.
In the ceramic one I have, the edges in the swirl (where the yarn comes through) are also smooth, so that it doesn't catch my yarn, or tear apart the delicate fibers. That's why I recommend this one. It's handmade, gives you a chuckle, and does it's job beautifully!

This is the gift that keeps on giving! It's perfect for when you don't know exactly what they want/need, and you'd rather they choose what yarn or tool what tickles their fancy.
Here are some places I recommend based on category:
Michaels Gift Card (because RIP Joann) - (Get a Gift Card)
They have some yarn and knitting/crochet tools. They are also in the process of extending their yarn craft section (as of 2026).
Threads by Megan Nicole - (Check out the Yarn) (Get a Gift Card)
I've gotten their yarn before, it's beautiful! And I got my friend a gift card for their store! It's hand dyed yarn, with many fiber options, so it's not your typical yarn price. This is the pretty, small business, yarn you can't find in stores!
Barefoot Stitchery - https://barefoot-stitchery.square.site/shop/yarn/2
This is a local yarn shop to me, with a lovely owner! She carries a small selection of yarn you can buy online!
Red Heart Yarns - CLICK HERE
This is a very popular yarn brand, that has a lot of affordable acrylic yarn in many colors!
Lion Brand Yarn - Check out some of my favorites: Coboo, Mandala, and 24/7 Cotton.
Jimmy Beans Wool - LOTS of beautiful options of yarn(all the fibers and colors), bags, tools, etc! I love them(it's the yarn I pictured above)! - CLICK HERE
There is nothing wrong with asking your person what they like to use, who they shop from, or some dream yarn they have been wanting to buy! There are so many shops and brands to choose from and look at! If you decide to go to a physical yarn store, don't be afraid to ask for help, they are usually super nice and knowledgeable!
Really Nice Hook or Needle Set
There's nothing like a fabulous hook or needle set that gets you motivated to make something! I think sometimes as humans we forget how inspiring beauty is. I love surrounding myself with beautiful things, like paintings, cute mugs, and clothing. They brighten my day, and get me excited.
When I have lovely tools to use, that also work well and make crafting easier, they make me want to crochet! I was gifted these lovely hooks from Jimmy Beans Wool, and I need to use them more because just looking at them makes me happy!
The Clover Amour Hooks (the first picture) are hooks that I always hear raving reviews about as well! People love how ergonomic they are, and how they make crocheting less stressful on their hands and wrists over time. Which is great, because sometimes our crochet sessions go on for hours!

Drop Spindle - Yarn Spinning Kit - Check out on Etsy
This is a pretty niche gift idea for a crafter who like crochet/knit adjacent hobbies. I love learning how things work, so I jumped from crocheting to learning how yarn is made! Since I have a small space and can't get a big spinning wheel (YET, lol) a drop spindle was the next best thing! It's portable, has a bit of a learning curve, and is so fun and relaxing to do once you get the hang of it!
Imagine making a hat with yarn you spun yourself! GOALS, if you ask me!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my little blog post on fun, practical gifts for crocheters and knitters! I hope you got some great inspo, or maybe a few things off my list! Giving is such a wonderful thing, and it makes you feel so good. It's because it's something we are SUPPOSED to do.
Acts 20:35
New International Version
35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
I hope you find the joy in giving this year without expecting anything in return :)
